BURKE TO OPEN SATURDAY WITH SPEEDY EXPRESS LIFT

by Craig Altschul

Head to the very heart of the Northeast Kingdom Saturday as Burke Mountain opens for the season. The brand new Mid Burke Express makes its debut, whisking skiers and snowboarders to the summit in seven minutes. Burke has installed a wind turbine that will supply 20 percent of the mountain’s energy needs. Meanwhile, planning of Camber Heights, a new slopeside, energy-efficient resort community where new homes will be built on request, is underway. Burke Mt. has more than 110 acres of glades, as well as 50 classic trails.
