‘EXTREME’ FREESKIING/FREERIDING BRINGS TEENS TO SLOPES

by Craig Altschul

There’s a trend that’s keeping skiing and snowboarding teenagers excited about being on Vermont’s mountain slopes. The newesdt love interest is in “extreme” freeskiing and freeriding and it all comes together in a new Ski The East Freeride Tour. Formal tour events are planned this winter at Magic Mt., Mad River, Sugarbush, and Jay Peak. Magic has had an event like this one since 1999, so plan to be on hand at the Londonderry ski area Feb. 25 and March 3 when the Black Magic Extreme Challenge and Southern Vermont Freeskiing Challenge events are held. Competitors need to be 14 years old.
