On a recent visit to Burlington, I headed to Church Street, as I often do, for a late dinner. I walked down the stairs of one of my favorite restaurants only to be told, “Sorry, we just quit serving dinner.” It was 10:00pm on the dot, there were quite a few empty tables available, and I had three hungry college students in tow.
Instead of trying to convince the person to seat us, which I normally would, as my ability to persuade people is almost legendary, I just said, “OK. Is there any place around that’s still serving dinner?” Why I didn’t do what I normally would have done, I don’t know. I do know, that I now have a new favorite restaurant in Burlington.
We were sent on our way to Bangkok Bistro. There was no hint of an attitude about us coming in late there. Indeed, our waitress, Aoy, was unbelievably friendly and helpful. We began with Thai Spring Rolls, Chicken Satay, Crispy Egg Rolls, and Tuna Tataki. The menu consists of a blend of Thai, Chinese, and Japanese all of which were covered in just our choice of appetizers.
We followed with Roasted Garlic Shrimp & Scallops, Vegetarian Thai Fried Rice, and Chicken Noodle Bowl. All of which were wonderful. In addition to appetizers, soups and salads, there are Specials from the grill: Chicken, Ribs, Shrimp & Scallops, Sirloin Steak, Pork Chops, and Salmon.
Between the friendliness of the staff, the perfection of the food, and the smoothness of the expertly prepared Cosmopolitans and Chocolate Martinis it was a wonderful meal.
