Richmond’s Sonia Nussbaum celebrated her 7th birthday by organizing a drive to provide "presents" to dogs at her local Humane Society of Chittenden, said the Burlington Free Press. The drive started in her classroom and soon spread to the whole school. Her motivation? "I love being with dogs, and it’s very important to me to help them find homes." Even though she didn’t find homes for the shelter dogs, she made it enabled them to have a better life while they waited to be adopted. She made fliers and wrote her own morning announcements about the drive. Sonia collected three bins filled with foods, toys, blankets, towels, and leashes for the 140 animals housed at the shelter. Look’s like man’s best friend found a human best friend.
