Bolton Valley Has Plenty of Snow. Plan Your Getaway Now!

by Linda Warner

BoltonValleySkiIf you have been putting off a trip north to ski, wait no longer.  Maybe you’re thinking that the moderate temperatures you’re feeling in Boston or New York mean there’s no snow in Vermont.  Or you remember hearing the weather forecasters talking about lack of snow “up north.”  All that may have been true in December, but it’s February now and there’s a lot of excellent skiing to be had throughout the state.

BoltonValleySnowmakingAt Bolton Valley, they are making snow at every opportunity, building up base depths and expanding terrain.  Josh Arneson, VP of Sales and Marketing, says that in addition to making snow, they have received over four feet of snow in January. He continues, “We find that sharing pictures and videos of people enjoying the snow really helps drive home the point that there is snow in the mountains.”  View those photos and videos for a current look at snow conditions by visiting the resort’s webpage and Facebook page. Or check out the resort’s Snow Report for all the details.

Arneson also makes a point that Bolton Valley has over 100km of trails for cross country skiing and snowshoeing for a different kind of outdoor adventure. Rental equipment is available, making it easy for guests to give something new a try.

BenJerryFor something totally different, head into nearby Waterbury for an afternoon or evening.  “Waterbury is craft beer central and home to many excellent restaurants,” he adds.  Waterbury is also home to Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream which offers a factory tour and a chance to sample their sweet treats.

With Valentine’s Day coming, Arneson suggests the perfect couple’s celebration.  “It would start with a night in one of the newly renovated bedroom suites in the slope side inn.  There would be skiing in the morning followed by dinner in the resort’s James Moore Tavern.  It would be cozy, relaxed and not at all rushed.”

BoltonValleyRoomHowever, if you’re planning a family vacation or just a getaway with friends, there’s always something happening at Bolton Valley.  Late Night at Bolton Valley takes place every Friday night.  Lifts run until 10:00 PM and there is live entertainment at the James Moore Tavern from 9:00 to midnight.  Take advantage of the indoor amusement center and heated indoor pool for family-perfect activities.  The week of Feb. 15 – 19 is Family Activity Week with special events planned every day.

So, whether it’s snowy where you live or still brown and bare, it’s winter in Vermont and the slopes are waiting.  Get your gear together and plan a visit now.
