COLLECTOR MOWS OVER THE COMPETITION

by Craig Altschul

People collect all kinds of things like figurines, sports memorabilia, and salt ‘n pepper shakers. Larry Curtis of Rochester is one of those people. He collects lawn mowers – specifically those manufactured by Lawn Boy. His collection spans three and a half decades, beginning with a 1952 model through a late 1980’s model, according to the Randolph Herald. He knows the story behind each one and can quote little known stats about Lawn Boys when asked. Larry has rescued many from landfills and restored them to their former mowing glory."Without them, my lawn would have been a hayfield and these Lawn Boys would be in the landfill," Larry said. Besides, “it’s just plain fun.” Who are we to argue?
