Dinner and a Movie at The Daily Planet

by Vermont.com Staff

The Daily Planet recently came out with their newest Winter Menu, and besides being absolutely delicious, there’s one heck of a deal that goes along with it. Any entree or light entree you choose – and more on them in just a second – comes with a half-priced ticket to Merrill’s Roxy Cinema. So basically, Daily Planet has your date night covered. Eat a delicious meal, a creative cocktail or two perhaps, listen to some great live music, then see a movie for only $4.50. You can’t beat that.

Now back to the menu. The Daily Planet is known for their creativity. From the art on the walls, to the libations in the glasses, everything is done their own way, and we love them for it. Always an eclectic mix of local and exotic dishes, with amazing options for the vegetarians in your group, Daily Planet brings together creative, delicious ingredients and presents them in a beautiful and one-of-a-kind manner.

Three dishes on the new menu that we had to have:

Coq au Vin:

Braised, bone-in chicken with a mushroom port au jus. Served with mouthwatering country mash over a bed of perfectly cooked asparagus.

Pan-Seared Duck Breast:

Sesame-Crusted Mahi-Mahi:

And our favorite, a sesame-crusted mahi-mahi with a citrus ginger drizzle. Served on a bed of wild rice with a side of seaweed salad. The delicate play from each of these seemingly simple flavors combine into what may be one of our new go-to dishes. Exquisite.

Other must try choices are: Korean chickpea burger with kimchi and sriracha aioli // Beer-braised pork belly // Tilapia tacos with cilantro marinade, red cabbage slaw, avocado crema and black beans and rice. Many more creative options, plus delicious daily specials all with your name of them.

So, there you have it. Be sure to head to The Daily Planet and try the new menu (plus the cocktails that pair so nicely), we’d love to hear which of the dishes are your favorite! Then head over and catch a movie – not too shabby!

The Daily Planet is located at 15 Center Street in Burlington. Open seven days a week from 4PM – 2AM. Be sure to check out their Facebook Page for live music and great specials.
