GIVING AND VERMONT JUST GO TOGETHER

by Craig Altschul

Vermonters are generous folk as citizens, communities, businesses, and families work to help one another. The Green Mountain State’s ski resorts give nearly 11,000 complementary lift tickets and passes and several thousand deeply discounted tickets to school children each year. The resorts also donate more than 9,000 tickets to volunteers and local rescue organizations. Members of the military and their families also receive special skiing and snowboarding benefits. The Ski Vermont Fifth Grade Passport enables all fifth grade children to ski and ride and the $10 fee goes to local farms. Some $8,500 was raised through the program last year and more than 2,400 kids used their passports. T’is the season.
