Skiing at Smugglers’ Notch is the perfect start to a wonderful winter adventure. Add all the other resort amenities, from FunZone for the kids, to tubing & snowmobiling, and you have a get-away that offers something special for every member of your family. But, visit Smugglers’ Notch in December, and you can count on even more, with two holidays (Christmas & New Year’s Eve), and a number of special events. Here’s what you have to look forward to in December.
The month starts with a resort favorite, the 25th Annual BrewFest, on Dec. 7th. BrewFest highlights many of the state’s amazing brews and craft ciders. (Did you know Vermont is home to the highest number of breweries per capita?) A DJ will be spinning tunes, and the Mountain Grille will put on a tasty appetizer buffet from 6-10pm in the Meeting House. This is a 21 and older event. Tickets available at the door for $22.
On Dec. 14th is the Gingerbread House Party. Head to the Meeting House for Gingerbread House and holiday cookie decorating, 5-6pm. There will be carols to sing and hot chocolate to drink. Bring your Gingerbread House and enter to win exciting prizes!
Not sure what to put on your Christmas list? Checkout Smuggs’ demo days on Dec. 8th and 15th, where you can demo skis & snowboards from Gilson, and Never Summer.
For a “don’t miss” event, head to Smugglers’ Notch for their Winter Solstice Celebration on Dec. 21st. Get in a full day of skiing, then join the celebration. Festivities kick off at 4pm with Jeh Kulu Dance & Drum Theater in the Meeting House, then join Goodtime Charlie for a dance party. There will be glow sticks and hot cocoa for the kids!
Christmas Eve is a special time at Smugglers’ Notch with events to make the evening magical for guests of all ages. Here’s the rundown for Christmas Eve events at Smuggs’.
7pm: Santa’s Arrival, Torchlight Parade & Fireworks.
Join Goodtime Charlie at the Gazebo for rounds of holiday carols, and watch for the arrival of that kindly old gentleman from the North. Enjoy a spectacular visual as our Snow Sport University faculty light up lower Morse Mountain on skis and snowboards, combined with the Fireworks Grand Finale. Best viewing is at the Gazebo. Immediately following the fireworks, Santa will join guests for carols, cookies, and smiles in the lower level of the Meeting House.
Non-denominational Christmas Eve Service
Share in fellowship with friends and family, sing carols and enjoy the warm glow of the candlelight. Children get a front row seat for a lively children’s story. The gathering will be held in the lower level of the Meeting House. All faiths are welcome.
For something completely different, don’t miss the SD Ireland Christmas Mixer Truck on Dec. 26th at 7pm. You might wonder, what is that? One of the hallmarks of the holiday season for residents of northern Vermont is the annual spectacle of one of the SD Ireland concrete trucks rolling through town, decked out from head to tailgate in 25,000 Christmas lights! The Christmas Mixer will be at the Welcome Sign in Smugglers’ Notch Village for oohs, aahs, and photo ops. Don’t miss it!
Ready for a holiday celebration the whole family will love? The welcoming resort village at Smugglers’ Notch is the perfect setting for your family’s Holiday Magic. Many Holiday Magic activities, Dec. 8-25, are included in your Club Smugglers family vacation package, which also includes condominium lodging, daily lift tickets, use of our outdoor ice skating rink, cross country ski and snowshoe trails, snow tubing (weather permitting), and much more.
