HELP THOSE WITH DISABILITIES SKI AND RIDE

by Craig Altschul

Have some volunteer time this winter? Here’s a great way to use it: Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports is looking for new volunteer ski and ride instructors for its programs at Sugarbush, Bolton Valley, and Pico. More than 400 new volunteers are required each winter to support more than 2,000 lessons for people with physical, cognitive, emotional, or behavioral disabilities. Volunteers will need to attend an off-snow orientation in November and two days of on-hill training in December. You’ll learn about disability awareness, and how to teach persons with specific types of disabilities. Many benefits include getting to train with members of Professional Ski Instructors of America, complimentary ski time on the hill when volunteering, and making many new friends. Call Dave D’Angelo at 802-353-3178 for more information or to volunteer.
