It’s that time of year again in Southwestern Vermont, when the 20th Annual Southern VT Garlic and Herb Festival comes to Bennington, VT on Saturday Sept 5th through Sunday Sept 6th.
Join fellow garlic lovers as they travel near and far to sample great food and crafts made from garlic and herbs. Enjoy everything from garlic ice cream to garlic braids – you’ll have your choice of every garlic variety for sampling and purchasing, along with planting and cooking demonstrations.
Kids will enjoy plenty of activities, including face painting, inflatable fun jumps and more. After you’ve enjoyed all the craft and food vendors, head on over to the Beer and Wine Garden to grab a bite to eat and something to drink, then relax while listening to some live music.

Roasted Garlic
Cut top off of garlic. Drizzle a couple teaspoons of olive oil over each exposed head, using your fingers to rub the olive oil over all the cut, exposed garlic cloves. Cover the bulb with aluminum foil. Bake at 400°F (205°C) for 30-35 minutes, or until the cloves feel soft when pressed.
Spread on bread, add to mashed potatoes, scramble in eggs, toss in soup, or just eat it plain. Just make sure EVERYONE you’re with also eats the garlic … and do not serve to vampires.
