by Craig Altschul

It’s a very good time for Jay Peak President and CEO Bill Stenger to celebrate. The Vermont Chamber of Commerce will present him with its 2011 Vermont Citizen of the Year award at a gala Dec. 9. The event includes a sneak peak of Jay’s brand new 50,000 square foot Pump House indoor water park. The prestigious award has been presented 48 times over the years and is given to the Vermonter who has bettered the state through self-sacrifice, service, and volunteerism. Chamber President Betsy Bishop said, “Bill Stenger’s innovation and determination have invigorated the economy in the Northeast Kingdom, providing excellent jobs to many in Vermont’s most rural region. Bill has always been a leader regionally and nationally in the ski industry and Vermont Winter News sends its congratulations on a well-deserved award.
