JAY PEAK’S PUMP HOUSE WATER PARK DEBUTS SATURDAY

by Craig Altschul

The Pump House, a new $27 million, 50,000-square-foot waterpark makes its formal debut Saturday Jay Peak in the Northeast Kingdom. The idea is to weatherproof vacations and the idea is likely to become a “game changer” for the resort. Lodging reservations have already surged by as much as 120 percent as word gets out. There’s a retractable roof, an “AquaLoop” slide that drops riders into a 60-foot freefall before sending them into an upside loop at 45 mph speeds. There’s the largest indoor river in North America and the Double Barrel, a twin FlowRider standing wave so you can tweet your friends about surfing in Vermont. The new Hotel Jay and Conference Center opens in February.
