Jay Peak Hosts Championship Hockey Teams

by Craig Altschul

Jay Peak will be hosting three of the eight teams competing in the IIHF World Hockey Championships. Teams Canada, Sweden, and Slovakia will be practicing in the Ice Haus arena in preparation for the championship tournament that starts April 7 in Burlington. “Being able to host these types of high-caliber events that appeal to both New Englanders and Canadians was a motivating factor behind building the arena,” Jay Peak’s Steve Wright says. Team Slovakia will be at Jay Peak from March 31-April 6; Team Canada from April 1-6; and Team Sweden from April 2-6. Practice schedules for each team will be posted online at jaypeakresort.com; practice sessions are open to guests.
