Magic Hat Brewing Co, located in Burlington, VT is hosting their 21st Annual Mardi Gras Weekend this weekend from March 4-6 2016 with the huge parade taking place on Saturday, March 5th. All proceeds from this event help bring awareness to The Vermont Foodbank.
The festivities begin with a kick off party on Friday March 4th at the Higher Ground with Rubblebucket, a wild art-pop band from Brooklyn, NY. Doors open at 7:00 pm with the show starting at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $17 in advance and $20 the day of the show. No need to worry about walking or driving, as there will be a $2 shuttle leaving the Burlington Hilton to the Higher Ground and back all night long from 8:00 pm – 2:00 am.
On Saturday, March 5th at 3:00 pm, The Grand Parade will make its way down Main St. all the way to Battery Street. Make sure you line up early so you can get a good spot up front so you can catch all of the action. Catch the beads, moonpies and Lake Champlain Chocolates as they are thrown from the floats. If you have children 10 years or younger, you can catch the parade from the Little Jambalaya Viewing Zone, located on the North side of Main Street. For those with disabilities, there will be a special viewing zone at the intersection of Church and Main. Their will be plenty of actiivties including the Mardi Gras Fun Run to keep you busy while you wait for the parade to begin. If you want to avoid the crowds heading to the parade there were will be a free shuttle from area downtown parking lots throughout the day.
On Sunday, March 6th events wind down with lunch at one of the many Burlington restaurants along Church St. After you have finished your meal, head on over to the Magic Hat Brewing Co. where they will be offering pour tours and tastings for everyone.
