MAGIC REACHES THE MAGIC NUMBER

by Craig Altschul

Magic Mountain has sold over 300 shares at $3,000 per share in the new skier-based ownership entity, The Magic Partnership LLC, just since mid-January. Those additional shares made the capitalization goal of the entity a reality. The entity is a cooperative partnership between the current operator and owners and the new skier-community. “The Magic partnership is really designed to let the skier-community have a say in the future of the mountain,” says Magic’s Jim Sullivan. The timeline to get additional shareholders and capital became more urgent because of the slow snow start to the season and the need for snowmaking improvements and other key infrastructure projects. Magic is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
