Mix It Up Day is a tradition at Peoples Academy in Morrisville, says the Lamoille News & Citizen. The nationwide campaign was created for students from kindergarten through high school in the hopes of “…breaking down barriers between students and improve intergroup relations so there are fewer misunderstandings that can lead to conflicts, bullying, and harassment.” The event at Peoples Academy was celebrated only during lunch until this year when it was decided to have it last all day. After shortened morning classes and an introduction to the event, a movie entitled Bullied was shown to the students. They then broke into discussion groups to talk about bullying and tolerance. The lunchtime break encouraged students to sit with different people, after which the students made their own personal pledge to do something about bullying. The day wrapped up with a talent show.
