Looking for a spicy appetizer for that party you are having? How about some Jalapeno Poppers to wake up your taste buds?
Chef-owner Amy Chamberlain of The Perfect Wife Restaurant in Manchester, VT was very excited when we asked her to share a maple syrup recipe with us. Amy likes to feature fresh produce and local products at her restaurant whenever possible.
Perfect Wife Jalapeno Poppers
For 6 people as an app.
Ingredients:
12 large fresh Jalapeno peppers- slice in half lengthwise and scoop out seeds
4 oz cream cheese
12 strips good bacon, cut in half lengthwise
1/4 c VT maple syrup
Directions:
Once the jalapenos have been cleaned out, fill the cavity with a good amount of cream cheese. Do this to all of the peppers.
Lay out the raw pieces of bacon and roll up each pepper in a half slice of bacon.
Lay out all peppers on a sheet pan and roast in a 375 oven for about 5 minutes, cut side down. Flip all peppers and roast another 5 minutes or until other side crisps up.
When they are done, immediately plate them and drizzle them generously with the maple syrup. Eat while hot. And the next time you will probably make the same amount for only 2 people and call it dinner!
