William McGovern, 11, of Stowe got a million dollar surprise (no, not cold hard cash) when he was at the Stowe Free Library recently. Stowe Today said William was checking out some books at the library, when he found out his was the one millionth item checked out since the library’s circulation system was automated in 1995. His reward? A cake from McCarthy’s Restaurant and a gift basket donated by Laughing Moon Chocolates. William is a frequent visitor to the library and enjoys fantasy novels, especially J.R.R. Tolkien. Just goes to show…being the millionth recipient of anything can be sweet.
