Lifeskills Housing at Morningside Shelter in Brattleboro is the recipient of a new donated clubhouse, built by 25 girls, age 10-13, in just one week. The girls, dubbed quot;Rosie’s Girls" (named in honor of the WWII Rosie the Riveter icon), constructed the clubhouse from scratch as part of their two-week summer camp, says The Brattleboro Reformer. Lifeskills is a two-year affordable housing project for young, single mothers and pregnant women that provides workshops in self-esteem and cooking, among others. One Lifeskills mom felt the clubhouse demonstrated what women can do, "Hopefully my girls will see how important it is to learn traits that are not necessarily associated with what women will do." Rosie’s Girls were amazed by and proud of their accomplishment. So, who ya gonna call next time you want a clubhouse built?
