STOWE’S NEW FORERUNNER QUAD TO BE DEDICATED SATURDAY

by Craig Altschul

Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin will join resort and town officials and the public at 10 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 10) to formally dedicate the new, high-speed Forerunner Quad at Stowe Mountain Resort. The lift will be able to carry 2,400 skiers and riders per hour. That’s an increase of 900 people over the old lift and matches the speeds of the gondola, Sunny Spruce, and the Sensation Quad. The lift’s chair storage at the bottom means de-icing is no longer necessary. The top terminal has been moved up the hill by 70 feet, and the new grading means no more hiking to get to Nosedive and Toll Road trails.
