Stowe Winter Carnival Rocks Out Through Saturday

by Craig Altschul

The 38th Stowe Winter Carnival is in full swing, now through Sat., Jan. 28. The carnival first began in 1921 when community leader Craig O. Burt wanted to bring the townspeople out of “winter’s doldrums.” It was suspended through the years but brought back to life by a group of locals in 1974. Today it offers plenty of major activities for all ages, including zany sports events, “Snowgolf” and “Snowvolleyball” tournaments, movies, Kids Carnival Kaos, and ice carving competitions.
