STRATTON TO HOST SNOWBOARD CELEBRATION WEEK DEC. 10-18

by Craig Altschul

Stratton Mountain, where the modern era of snowboarding began paced by Jake Burton Carpenter, will celebrate the sport, its culture, and the launch “Experience Snowboarding,” Burton’s new learning program. The resort will host on-snow demonstrations, clinics with snowboard pros, competitions, and movies all week long, culminating Dec. 18 on World Snowboarding Day. It all begins Dec. 10 with a hike up Suntanner – just as Burton did when crafting his first snowboards. Stratton is well known for being one of the first resorts in the world to welcome snowboarding, hosting the U.S. Snowboarding Open, and becoming the home hill for Olympic stars Ross Powers and Lindsey Jacobellis.
