Yes, it’s been a warmer winter than usual this year, but that hasn’t stopped the Vermont ski resorts from making snow. Lots of snow! They’re ready and waiting for you right now. If you’re heading to northern Vermont this weekend, this is what you can expect (as of January 7, 2016):
Bolton Valley 7% open, 5 of 71 trails
Jay Peak 56% open, 44 of 78 trails
Q Burke Mountain 24% open, 12 of 50 trails
Smuggler’s Notch 38% open, 30 of 78 trails
Stowe Mountain 53% open, 62 of 116
Sugarbush 80% open, 89 of 111 trails
For up to the minute snow conditions, check the Ski and Snow Report.
Even better – because some visitors have stayed away based upon warm weather forecasts, lift
lines are short and lodging packages offer some great savings. Check out these specials at Smuggler’s Notch. (For pet-friendly lodging, have a look at the specials at Sterling Ridge Resort
which is nearby.)
The Stowe area also offers lodging specials. For dining and other attractions in the Stowe area, see the Stowe city page on Vermont.com.
Skiing at Bolton? The city of Burlington is just about a half an hour away. Choose from a multitude of lodging and dining options.
For skiing at Jay Peak, consider a stay at the pet-friendly Phineas Swann Country Inn on Montgomery Center’s historic Main Street.
Lodging at Q Burke includes some excellent choices including Comfort Inn & Suites and the Fairbanks Inn.
