In the November issue of Yankee Magazine, author Bill Scheller wrote an article entitled Christmas Celebrations in Manchester and Woodstock, VT.
He says that while many towns put on holiday celebrations, Manchester and Woodstock go the extra mile.
He writes about Manchester Merriment , which takes place from November 27th-January 1nd, where the town celebrates the holidays with a variety of festive activities. Several local inns, including The Wilburton Inn, have an open house where visitors can come and see how each one has decorated for the holidays. He tops off his visit by riding the Elf Express , which now is in its fourth season.
He also makes a visit to Woodstock for their mid December Winter Wassail Weekend, which this year takes place from Friday 12/11 through 12/13. This has been voted one of Vermont’s Top Ten Winter Events. Once there he checks into the Woodstock Inn, which is fully decorated for the holidays, including a gingerbread house the size of a shed. He participates in the Wassail Parade by riding in a horse drawn wagon and walks along Main St. listening to live music and enjoying the beautiful lights and decorations.
So if you are planning a trip up to Vermont in the coming weeks, be sure to check out these special holiday events.
